ATTA Leaf Cutter was named after a genus of New World ants that belong to the subfamily Myrmicinae, and are capable of defoliating a whole tree in a matter of hours. Like the insect, ATTA cuts grain leaf samples into 6mm wide segments, which are then transferred into test plates by a pneumatically actuated Cartesian robot arm. While preparing 9,600 samples traditionally required 200 hours of employee labor, ATTA can finish the job in just 5 employee hours. This high throughput system allows for a greater number of screens overall and more effective use of your scientists’ time.
